Olentzero will be poor in Pamplona these Christmas

Not because of budget cuts.

The traditional parade of the Olentzero, mythical Basque coal-maker who brings gifts to children in Christmas (Santa-style), will not be this year in many Pamplonese neighborhoods. The Olentzero may still parade but the usual paraphernalia of chariots, dances, etc. that comes with him will not be.

The fascist Mayor of Pamplona, Yolanda Barcina, has forbidden some and in other cases placed such draconian conditions that the Neighborhoods' Coordination has decided to call them off in all the city. Private citizens will still carry the big-headed smoker fat man but the parades will be much more modest.
