US soldier Bradley Manning (left) is being subject to torture by means of sustained isolation plus drugs. It has been demonstrated that prolonged isolation damages the brain.
According to acquaintances, he is being also subject to harassment, intimidation and even bribery attempts to bring him to "infiltrate" Wikileaks.
Manning, who has not been brought to trial yet, has shown all this time a particularly high moral stand. He may be accused of naivety, specially for trusting that worm of Adrian Lamo, but he has all the time shown to have high moral values, whether you agree with them or not. He is a clear case of prisoner of conscience.
In his fateful conversation with Lamo he clearly underlined his altruistic motivation in leaking... whatever he leaked (we do not know for sure yet):
Manning: i mean what if i were someone more malicious- i could've sold to russia or china, and made bank?
Lamo: why didn’t you?
Manning: because it's public data
Lamo: i mean, the cables
Manning: it belongs in the public domain -information should be free - it belongs in the public domain - because another state would just take advantage of the information… try and get some edge - if its out in the open… it should be a public good.
